Family Values

Family: a social unit consisting of parents and children; a group
of people related by ancestry or marriage; tribe or clan; lineage; people devoted to family and home
Value: that which is desirable or worthy of esteem for its own sake; a thing or quality having intrinsic worth; the social principles, goals or standards held or accepted by an individual, class or society; - Webster’s New World Dictionary of the American Language

Family Values– the basic, moral principles that instill positive character traits that guide and endure generations - are the stanchions that support a viable society. America has long represented itself as a nation that proudly reflects moral aptitude and family values. Today, this is a challenging perspective.

While parental influence can be strong, there is a wave of media programming that has made it increasingly difficult for parents, grandparents, educators, and mental health professionals to be as effective as possible in teaching our children and members of society the values that reflect socially acceptable behavior. While we as a society steadfastly defend our position, much of today’s media programming undermines the essence of the family unit, moral standards and mutual respect by introducing and promoting many TV shows, film, music, videos and other programming and products that compromise these ideals and values.

Enter The CAN DO! Project, a “Multisensory Experience” of exciting multimedia products designed to promote family values such as mutual respect, caring, fairness, integrity, courage, perseverance, and living responsibly and productively. The CAN DO! Project and alliances of individuals and organizations are working together, creating a new multimedia wave that is setting the pace for today – and future – generations.
